Personal Information:

Dr. Sweeney’s focus is gynecology and wellness. She integrates a multi-disciplinary approach including diet, activity, and traditional medical testing. Her experience and advanced skills make most surgical interventions, when necessary, minimally invasive. She trained under top pathologists at the University of Virginia, and is knowledgeable about all aspects of abnormal Pap smear management and HPV. She treats abnormal menstrual bleeding, PMS, hormonal imbalances, endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, and menopausal symptoms. She is experienced with both conventional and bio-identical hormones. Dr. Sweeney is a breast cancer survivor. She consults with women at risk for breast cancer, and their families, for genetic testing, responsible hormone use, medical surveillance, and management. She also reviews the cases of women who have had breast cancer to assure they have received optimal treatment and prophylaxis. Dr. Sweeney has lectured on screening and treatment of abnormal pap smears, and has experience in the research of ovarian cancer. She has served on quality assurance committees for both Blue Cross and Mercy San Juan Hospital. She is married, and has two sons. In her free time she is an avid skier and enjoys gardening. She believes that patient education and choice are the pillars of the doctor-patient relationship. As a mom and working professional, she understands that your treatments must fit your lifestyle and schedule.
